Uit ons eerste nestje zouden we een pupje houden voor Marc. Hij wilde al zo lang een bruine border collie en dus viel hij al meteen op dag 1 als een blok voor het ene bruine pupje in ons nestje. Cas, ons zoontje van 6, was van in het begin verliefd op pupje beige en pupje paars. En zo begon het…
Gaandeweg ontwikkelde pupje paars zich net zoals ik voor ogen had. Dat wat ik zocht in mijn 2de border collie, een stabiel hoofdje met net dat ietsje meer pit dan zijn mama. Een blij eitje dat ervan uitging dat iedereen hem net zo leuk vond als hij hun.
En zo gebeurde dat wat anderen al veel langer zagen aankomen dan wij zelf. Niet alleen het knappe bruintje maar ook ons blije zwartje bleven bij ons wonen. De liefde tussen Cas en Guido is nog steeds bijzonder, die 2 zijn gek op elkaar. En ook ik ben maar wat blij met deze knappe kerel.
Hij is ook nu nog, als jong volwassen hond, de perfecte mix tussen zijn mama en papa. Hij kan rustig zijn indien nodig, óók naast het agilityterrein. Hij kan zich beheersen en heel bedachtzaam zijn in alles wat hij doet. Toch heeft hij voldoende pit en werkdrive. Zijn focus is enorm, hij laat zich niet gemakkelijk afleiden. Een geweldige combinatie om mee te werken.
Zijn atletische lichaam beweegt hem al dansend over het veld, een streling voor het oog. Een trainer vergeleek hem ooit met een ballerina omdat hij zo licht en vloeiend beweegt. Met zijn 55cm schofthoogte en 18kg is hij toch ontzettend flexibel en buigt zich moeiteloos rond een vleugel.
In huis is hij een lieverd die van knuffelen houdt en gewoon lekker bij je in de buurt wil zijn. Buitenshuis wil hij het liefst gewoon rennen, zo hard als hij kan en zoveel als hij kan.
Kortom,
Guido is alles wat ik in gedachte had toen ik dit nestje plande. Een hond met een aan-uitknop. Hij is een droom!
From our first litter we were going to keep a puppy for Marc. He wanted a brown border collie for so long and so he fell for the one brown puppy in our litter on day 1. Cas, our 6-year-old son, fell in love with puppy beige and puppy purple from the very beginning. And so it began…
Gradually puppy purple developed just as I had in mind. What I was looking for in my second border collie, a stable head with just that little bit more spunk than his mother. A happy kid who assumed that everyone liked him as much as he liked them.
And so it happened, what others had seen coming for much longer than we had. Not only the handsome brownie but also our happy little blackie stayed with us. The love between Cas and Guido is still special, those two are crazy about each other. And I am also just so happy with this handsome guy.
Even now, as a young adult dog, he is still the perfect mix between his mum and dad. He can be quiet when needed, even off the agility course. He can control himself and be very thoughtful in everything he does. Yet he has enough spunk and work drive. His focus is huge, he does not get distracted easily. A great combination to work with.
His athletic body moves him around the field dancing, a pleasure for the eye. A trainer once compared him to a ballerina because he moves so light and fluent. At 55cm withers and 18kg, he is nevertheless incredibly flexible and bends effortlessly around a wing.
At home, he is a sweetheart who loves to cuddle and just wants to be near you. Outdoors, he prefers to just run, as hard as he can and as much as he can.
In short,
Guido is everything I had in mind when I planned this litter. A dog with an on-off switch. He is a dream!
